Description

Hey everyone. New artwork, for my portfolio once again. This is a forest scene with two travellers unexpectedly walking towards there doom as a creature from the forest waits for them. She may look beautiful to the unsuspecting travellers but shes deadly....

Completed entirely in photoshop CS2, used a few custom brushes. Tried to adjust colours with curves, sorta looks ok.

It took me quite along time to finish and I was fiddling around with it at the end. Probably 15-18 hours.

Nice perspective! Wonderful trees, good colorwork (overall a bit monochromatic, maybe some greenish spots would do it....)
A beautiful picture!

Thanks for the comments people.

Ikaa - You might be right about adding some greenery, I was trying to reduce the amount of colours I use in a piece because my work can look abit confused with the amount of colours I use sometimes :S.

Wonderful details. I wished the picture was a bit larger, because the travellers and 'creature' get a bit lost in the big forest *g*

thanks for the coments

carpenoctem - unfortunatley the width restriction stops a larger pic being posted. I did want them to look like they were lost in he forest to make there situation more menacing.

Quite nice! The perspective lures the eyes well, and the canopy works as a natural border, nice effect. :) I also like the textures - which work really well with the terrain. The lady in red makes a nice contrast too, which makes all the difference I'd say.

I really admire your inventive trees. as far as monochromatic, I agree, it is a tad chromatic. Maybe some purple or blue undertones, especially near the deadly figure, just to bring more attention to the ominous situation that the travelers are heading towards. I totally love your tree scape. I wanna learn how to do that.

I would really like to see a bigger version. Nice idea for a sort of legend. This is a very nice piece, Richard ! I agree with Jacobine, but I would have put more shadows on the trees trunks (just a matter of taste I think).
