Description

Gouache!

Bought myself some new gouache paints and brushes today, quite an expensive little venture, but I really wanted to try them out.

When I got home I spent a few hours in my back garden painting some trees and foliage from life. I really like how the washes dry fast so you can work over them, its very good for quick studies.

Its painted on watercolour board

11" x 14" approx.

Very nice work, always good to see some traditional art around here. How's gouache by the way? I want to try it out eventually (the digital thing is getting a bit bland for me, I admit).

Top marks.

Gouache is nice to use, its like watercolour but opaque so I think you can achieve more using it. You can make it more textural and thicker for the focal parts which is nice. It drys really quickly aswell so you can build layers of colour. Its very versatile, u should give it ago.

Thanks for the comment aswell dude.

Nice, that's pretty much how I thought it was. I'm definitely gonna give it a try sometime in the future. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Nice brush strokes.Makes me nostalgic feeling :) The strokes at the bottom are a bit boring and monotone - some variety could help there
